Gyokuro is the highest grade Japanese Green Tea. About 20 days before harvest, tea leaves are shaded to avoid direct sunlight. This shade-grown process increase the umami sweetness and reduce the astringency of the tea leaves.
Nylon pyramid teabags are used to pack Gyokuro tea leaves. Nylon pyramid teabags has the advantages of improving water flow and the quality of the brewed tea is very close to brewing loose leaves in teapot. Besides, because of the greater spacing in pyramid teabag, we use tea leaves in our teabag. (Many teabag products in the market use tea dust, which is the lowest quality. We use only high quality tea leaves.)
Unlike many Gyokuro tea leaves are blended with Kabusecha or blended with tea leaves from other region which is lower quality. This Gyokuro products are purely 100% from Uji only.
